Winner – Concrete Society Awards 2022

 In News

Congratulations to Concrete Repairs Limited for winning the CRA Repair & Refurbishment award at the Concrete Society Awards on the 16th Novemeber 2022.

The project that won CRL this prestigious award was for their fantastic work on the Boulby Mine Man Riding Shaft Tower Repairs (External and Internal Works), owned by Cleveland Potash.

Boulby Mine on the north-east coast is the world’s first and only Polyhalite mine, and the UK’s deepest mine at 1200 meters. The main shaft building is a 50-year-old cast-in situ concrete structure, with an external elevation extending 45 meters above ground. Its coastal location and sulphides from the mine contributed to reinforcement corrosion, compounded by high internal levels of humidity.

As principal contractor, CRL had to draw on their extensive technical knowledge, highly trained resources and management expertise in structural repairs, cathodic protection and carbon-fibre strengthening. CRL’s restoration approach offered significant economic and environmental benefits to the client and third parties such as the local community.

Consulting Engineers on the project were Nortech Group. Gunite Solutions Limited were specialist subcontractors and materials were supplied by Fosroc.

Congratulations to Matthew Robinson and the CRL team and everyone else involved for winning the award!

We would also like to congratulate Gunite and Mackenzie Construction for their Highly Commended awards.
